Naivas Opens New Store in Nyali, Mombasa

Kenya’s giant Naivas supermarkets have opened its 105 store at Nyali of Mombasa County to spread its wings within the lucrative Coast region market.

The outlet signifies Naivas’ position as the leading retail chain against mounting pressure from Carefour and Quickmart competition.

Dennis Makori, Naivas commerical department head, says the store will offer exclusive sales and promotions to Nyali residents and its surrounding areas with brands that deliver savings and value.

“Our main focus for business is guaranteed quality for our customers. This is what keeps us moving because our customers’ experiences are more important to us as we head to the festive season,” he added.

This store comes four months after Naivas management opened the 104th branch at T-Square Mall in Buruburu suburb of Nairobi County.

The Nyali outlet covers a 5,000 square feet of the area along the Links Road and it will Naivas’ number 12 in the Coastal region.

“That’s not the end of story as ‘soon’ we will open our 106 store in Mtwapa township bordering Mombasa in the south.”

One thing that Naivas has stepped up in its supermarkets are fresh food products that they promise to continue improving to their customers’ preferences.

Apart from that, the Nyali branch will offer a wide range of products including assortments of groceries, fresh dairy and meat products, in addition to dairy general merchandise through partnership with other stakeholders.

One of the developers of the Nyali mall, My Space Properties chief executive officer Mwenda Thuranira, says the new expansion has created jobs to hundreds of young people.

“This is very exciting to Nyali people who will have opportunities to shop at their convenience within distances of their doorsteps. Being 12 years of Naivas, we have had a wonderful journey throughout the country,” he said.
