MOMBASA ASK SHOW: Moves a Notch Higher as New Exhibitors Confirm Participation

Mombasa International Agricultural Society of Kenya has attracted over 250 exhibitors among them the East Africa Tea Auction for this year’s show.

The tea auction, will showcase its trading publicly for the first time at the show where Kenyans will experience how live auctions is done with international buyers based outside the country.

“We are grateful for the international flavour that this bring to tea-growers and users alike. The tea auction will be making its debut in this year’s show. We have invited over 38 international companies, so it will be a big show in nature,” said Henry Nyaga, the Mombasa branch ASK chair.

Out of the 38 ASK confirmed foreign companies expected to grace the Mkomani grounds, five have already set foot there in preparations of their designated stands in Mombasa County.

Last year, the international show only attracted 157 exhibitors compared to this year’s more than 257 showcase their products.

Speaking to the media at the Mkomani show grounds on August 17, 2024, Nyaga says they expect to hit over 500,000 visitors to set record for activities that have lined up for the entire week.

“In 2023 the show attracted over 157 exhibitors in trade, livestock farm and dairy.

This year,we expect to have an increase in the number so far 400 have shown interest with several visitors likely to hit approximately over 250,000 over the five days.”

He assured exhibitors and showgoers of adequate water supplies, personal security surveillance and emergency responses in case of any incidents or health crisis.

“We are asking all of us to take part in this ASK show. We have prepared enough security, ensured enough water supply as well as deal with health emergency. We have also improved our facilities.”

The annual event will also provide a platform for visitors to get goods and government services at subsidized and affordable, apart from offering free farmer training, workshops, livestock parades and arena entertainment for free.

The event will provide a platform for exhibitors to not only showcase the latest technologies in their sectors but will also enable them to interact directly with their customers.”

This year’s show will kick off from September 4th- 8th under the theme “Promoting climate smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth”.

President William Ruto is expected to officially open the show on September 5, 2024.
