Galole A Crowned Dola Super Cup Champion in Tana River Edition

Galole A Football Club are the new football champions of the Dola Super cup in the Tanariver edition after edging out Garsen A 2-1 in a thrilling final match played at a fully-packed Hola Stadium over the weekend.

The nail biting match saw Garsen A dominating the first 45 minutes while Galole A came from behind to equalize in the second half ending the full time score at 1-1.

Football lovers were treated to a rare spectacle when winners Galole A displayed football tactics enabling them to score their winning goal in the 92 extra time to secure a 2-1 win.

On their journey to finals Galole A had defeated Tana North A while Garsen A sailed through after defeating Galole B. 

The much publicized Tana River county Dola super cup edition had attracted eight teams from three constituencies that battled for top honors.

Speaking after the match, Mombasa Football Association chairman Juma Goshi, who is one of the top organizers of the tournament in partnership with Dola Company said the tournament was a game changer in nurturing football talents.

“This is what we were lacking in our football, we need to have such tournaments time and again to ensure youth with talent are exposed to local and international markets. We have noticed the region has a lot of talents which need to be nurtured.”

The tournament is played across the six coastal counties with Likoni 1 emerging as the winner of the Mombasa Edition after defeating Likoni 2 through penalties after their match ended on a 1-1 draw.

Likoni 1 goalkeeper Said Ngare saved a penalty from Said Abdhalla of Likoni 2 while Marco Cena of Likoni 1 netted his last penalty sealing their win on a 5-4 aggregate in a match was played at Mwahima Stadium in Likoni Mombasa.

Msambweni 3 were crowned Kwale Dola Cup Edition after defeating Msambweni 2 four zero before walking away with Ksh100,000 while the second position pocketed Ksh80,000.

Msambweni 3 player Athmani Bori scored two goals in the first half before Hamidi Tabwara and Salim Mzare finalised the win during the second half.

On his part, Dola Group Company head of marketing Sadam Suleiman said the next focus is on Taita Taveta Edition followed by Kilifi and Lamu respectively.

“The tournament has helped   youth to stay away from drugs, and petty crimes as all county Edition winners will pocket 100,000 thousand and the final winner will Walk away with a prize of one million shillings, ” he said.

This comes as the football stakeholders at the Coast applauded the tournament for nurturing talent, reviving football fanaticism as witnessed by thousands of fans who trooped to the different grounds to cheer up their teams.

“We managed to activate our Dola brands and ensured every resident got to know our products. This tournament is purely for nurturing talents since inception, we have witnessed good talents that need to be considered,” Suleiman added.
