Immediate former Magarini MP Harrison  Kombe has challenged youth in the constituency to take up technical courses to boost their chances for the meagre job market.

Speaking after officially opening the first ever Magarini Technical and Vocational College (MTVC), Kombe said the institution was a game-changer in the education sector of the Sub-county.

He noted that, with the shrinking job opportunities in the country, those who gain meaningful training from the institution can also employ themselves and earn a living wage.

The college will be able to offer several courses such as building and construction, plumbing and pipe fitting, electrical engineering, ICT amongst other technical courses.

“I want you people to learn these TVETS courses so that you become financially stable and believe you me through this college a lot of opportunities are coming our way,” he said.

Being the only vocational college in Magarini constituency, MTVC on its first registration  registered over two hundred and fifty (250) students ready to learn.

During his speech Kombe offered to purchase ten (10) computers for the college so that learning could start immediately.

“I’ll bring ten computers which will help in  IT learning cutting across all the courses.”

In addition, he said that he was so much focused to TVETS learning so that young ladies and gentlemen may become financially stable through self employment.

On his part, the outgoing principal Silas Duncan Ochieng urged people from all over the country to come and register to start learning in the institution.

“I urge all youths from Magarini, Kilifi and Kenya at large come join us here for all the courses we offer chances are still there, If education is the  key then TVET is the master key,” he said.

Michael Tsuwi one of the registered students who will pursue craft certificate in electrical engineering did not hide his joy stating that he will now be able achieve his academic dreams.

“I am glad I will be able to fulfill my dreams,I am also glad that I’ll be in the records as one of the Pioneers of this institution who changed their lives,” he said.

Located in the Subcounty GIS-WARESA road, learning is expected to commence immediately.
