Police gun down a gangster suspect in Kisauni

Police in Mombasa have shot dead a criminal suspect in Bamburi, Kisauni Sub County.

The suspect according to Kisauni sub county Officer Commanding Police Division Julius Kiragu is aged between 18 and 22 years.

The OCPD says the suspect was gunned down on Sunday 1 after a tip off from members of the public.

The criminal is a suspected member of the Wakali Kwanza gang that has over time been terrorizing locals in Kisauni Sub County.

Kiragu while addressing journalists in Mombasa on Monday urged locals to report any suspicious person to the relevant authorities assuring locals of their security.

He urged both public and private hospitals attendants to report any person seeking medical assistance with bullet wounds.

“The operation has been going on and will go on throughout this festive season. We want to thank members of the public for their support” he said.

Kiragu confirmed that the gang that terrorized locals on the fateful day comprised of between 6 to 8 young men aged between 18 and 22 years.

The other suspects managed to escape with deep cuts.

Police nabbed three machetes during the operation.

According to the OCPD the body of the deceased is still lying at the Coast General hospital mortuary awaiting identification.

On Sunday 25 November, a gang of 10 members armed with machetes and knives attacked residents in Kisauni and Nyali leaving them with deep cuts.
